What next?
The Ashmolean sees the launch of Eastern Art Online as the beginning of the story, rather than the end.
The Centre is being developed as a hub for knowledge and information about our collections, which links to related collections, further reading and more general resources. The project team will continue to work with curators and education staff to enhance content and features.
Future Developments
Initially the content focuses on the objects and themes featured in the new galleries for the Islamic and Eastern Art collections. There is an ongoing programme to make more objects available in the online collection over time, to improve the level of information for the objects and to develop linked resources.
The Museum is keen to provide educational resources to enhance the wealth of collections information developed for Eastern Art Online, and to promote its use by schools and universities.
The Ashmolean invites feedback from visitors on ways in which Eastern Art Online could be improved, or areas where more information would be useful.
